Welcome to Our Pack

My interest in the Whippet breed started in 1999 with the arrival of Missy our first bitch from the Martinique Kennels.  Prior to this I had bred working Border Collies and competed with them at Working Sheepdog Trials around Queensland.  Due to the fact that most of my working dogs always smelled more like a sheep than a dog I was determined that Missy would not be allowed into the house, a rule that did not even make it through the first day of her arrival.

Although Missy was more of a lounge lizard than a showgirl and a mysterious injury to her tail kept her out of the show ring, her first litter produced 3 champions under a partners prefix.  I got hooked showing these puppies and soon the Zipalong breeders prefix was registered and Missy along with one of her sons became two of our foundations and are permanent resident retired lounge lizards to this day.  Nuffy is still a very keen Frisbee catcher, Kong fetcher and beach bum.

Thanks to generous breeders who helped us with some more bloodlines to add to the kennel, my son and I commenced our endeavor to breed the best Whippet we could.  While we enjoy showing and racing, various commitments don’t always allow us to take part.  Our breeding program goes on in the hopes that one day we will again be free to show, race and course the Whippets

We are located 3 hours north west of Brisbane, Queensland  in a quiet elevated valley set amongst the rolling green grazing pastures with views to the Bunya Mountains.

The dogs enjoy the freedom of our large fenced house yard and are seldom kenneled.
